Foods have great powers to heal diseases. Yes our health and wellbeing depends more on the food that we eat every day.

True, some foods may be the origin of some diseases, but others are capable of healing, reducing, preventing and even curing diseases.

The regular consumption of healthy foods can restore our health just as most medicines and other medical treatment can do.

In order to maintain a robust health it is important to learn which foods we should take advantage of and which ones to avoid when suffering from certain common diseases or ill health.

In my writings on healthy foods I am drawing lots of information from Dr. Rogers Pamplona and Dr. Michael Greger , both scientists and nutritionists. They both describe with scientific clarity the composition and curative properties of common medicinal foods; both uphold with complete faith the wholesome healing abilities of whole plant based nutrition.

My writings aim at helping my readers to discover, be reminded of and appreciate the medicinal powers of foods, and also to enjoy eating them.

Foods and nutrition are the means of supplying fuel that provide energy for the body. The body needs to replace nutrients with new supplies on daily basis.

There are two main types of nutrients; macronutrients and micronutrients. The three main categories of macronutrients are carbohydrates, proteins and fats. The two types of micronutrients are vitamins and minerals; they produce energy for the body.

I learnt a long time ago in my primary school days that there are seven elements of nutrients. These are carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins, minerals, roughages or fiber and water. The sources of these nutrients are plant and animal foods.

I learnt that one should consume all the seven nutrients every day to help them to build healthy bodies. I also learnt that deficiencies, excesses, and imbalances in these nutrients can produce ill health due to diseases. Therefore, eating a variety of natural plant and animal foods supplies us with different vitamins and minerals.

Foods that are packed with nutrients include fruits, vegetables, lean meats, fish, whole grains, diary, legumes, nuts, and seeds.

In my writings I shall give tips on medicinal foods, Most of the foods are centered around whole plant foods. These are beans, berries, fruits, lots of vegetables including green leafy vegetables,, whole grains and seeds. Do not miss physical exercises and plenty of water.
