Foods for the Heart

The heart if the most hardworking organ in the human body. It beats rhythmically, unceasingly, without stopping, without tiring from birth to death when it is kept in good health.

This capacity of the myocardium (heart muscle) to work without rest is one of the awesome facts of the animal and human physiology. In actual fact the heart rests at the brief moment when it is receiving blood and nutrients during relaxation.

  • Angina pectoris
  • Arrhythmia
  • Cardiac failure
  • Myocadiac infarction

FOODS FOR THE HEART

  1. Eat wholesome fresh fruits such as banana, cherimoya (brother heart, custard apple, Annona, Cheri mole), Sugar apple (ghiste), grape, peach, mango, grapefruit in one day.
  2. Eat nuts such as groundnuts, cashew nuts, walnuts, peanuts daily
  3. Eat at least one fresh vegetable salad dressed with simsim oil or olive oil or any seed oil
  4. Eat a minimum of two or three portions of legume; beans, peas a week.
  5. Eat whole-grain meal or bread, pasta. Grains like wheat, rice, rye, millet, sorghum barley, regularly.
  6. Eat plenty of vegetables like onion, garlic, carrot, broccoli, tomatoes, pumpkins, spinach, mushrooms, green and red pepper.
  7. Avoid tobacco, coffee, excessive alcohol.
  8. Reduce salt, sugar consumption
